Earlier this week ReView, a small Unity editor extension of mine, went live on the Unity Asset Store.
The story behind it is simply that I was getting tired of adjusting layouts all the time – as my tooling needs changed between authoring something in edit mode and testing it in play mode. The closest thing to something built-in addressing this would be the “maximise on play” feature. However that is basically only useful for demoing.
So I wrote ReView. It lets you define two window layouts – just like any other Unity window layout – with the key difference being that you append “-edit” to one and “-play” to another. Once you switch to the one relevant for your current mode, ReView will then automatically switch to its counterpart when you enter or exit playmode.
